Mission

Every year, large quantities of new and reusable construction materials are disposed of and burned in Nunavik's northern landfills. R3build was developed to reduce the amount of disposal of construction materials, to use or reuse materials in good condition, and to rethink the way we manage residual materials in Nunavik.

R3build’s mission is to facilitate networking between companies, organizations, and the local population to divert construction materials in good condition from disposal.

A matter of logistics

The cost of transporting materials is high, and delivery times are very long, especially when maritime transport is involved. It is therefore common for contractors and organizations to order more materials than they need, even if it means having to dispose of them, to avoid shortages during the course of a project.

Reduce waste of resources

Reducing the quantity of materials sent to northern landfill sites will help extend their lifespan. The use or reuse of materials will help reduce the waste of resources.

Northern villages

Each of Nunavik’s 14 Northern villages is responsible for enforcing its own residual materials management by-law and managing its own northern landfill site.
